TRAILER RENTAL INSTRUCTION GUIDE
Self‑Serve Pickup & Drop Off
🟩 STEP 1: Complete Pickup Form
✅ Fill out the Pickup Form to receive the lockbox code
🟩 STEP 2: Access Hitch Locks (Lockbox)
✅ Use the lockbox on the trailer to access the keys
✅ Remove the two hitch locks before hooking up
✅ Keep keys secure during rental
🟩 STEP 3: Confirm Correct Ball Size
✅ Check the ball size stamped on the trailer coupler
✅ Make sure your hitch ball matches exactly (2", 2‑5/16", etc.)
✅ Ball must be tight and securely mounted
⚠ Wrong ball size can cause the trailer to disconnect.
🟩 STEP 4: Verify Hitch Weight Rating
✅ Confirm your hitch is rated for this trailer’s GVWR
✅ Hitch rating must meet or exceed trailer weight rating
✅ Check both receiver and ball mount ratings
⚠ Underrated hitches are unsafe and illegal.
🟩 STEP 5: Properly Latch & Lock the Coupler
✅ Unplug charging power cord from trailer (if equipped)
✅ Lower coupler fully onto ball
✅ Close latch completely
✅ Insert safety pin or lock through latch
✅ Coupler secure
✅ Pin/lock installed
🟩 STEP 6: Attach Safety Chains (CROSS THEM)
✅ Cross chains under the trailer tongue
✅ Hook securely to vehicle frame or hitch loops
✅ Leave enough slack for turning (but not dragging)
✅ Chains crossed
✅ Hooks secure
🟩 STEP 7: Attach Breakaway Brake Cable (If Equipped)
✅ DO NOT attach to safety chains
✅ Breakaway cable attached
🟩 STEP 8: Connect Electrical Plug
✅ Plug fully inserted
✅ Test: brake lights, turn signals, running lights
✅ Confirm trailer brakes activate (if equipped)
✅ Electrical connected
✅ Lights working
🟩 STEP 9: Secure the Tongue Jack
✅ Crank jack to FULL up position
✅ If equipped with a drop foot, fully retract the drop leg before driving
✅ Some jacks rotate — ensure jack is locked in the horizontal travel position
✅ Confirm jack will not contact the ground when towing
🔧 NEED A LOANER?
If you need:
• A loaner hitch
• An electrical adapter
👉 They are located inside the small white horse trailer (enter through the front door).
Please return all loaner equipment after use.
🛑 TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER WARNING
If your truck has a trailer brake controller:
✅ Set gain LOW before driving
✅ Gradually increase as needed
✅ Avoid locking up trailer tires
⚠ If trailer brakes lock up and cause flat spots on tires, you will be charged $100 per damaged tire.
✅ FINAL DEPARTURE CHECKLIST
☐ Correct ball size
☐ Hitch rated properly
☐ Coupler latched & locked
☐ Safety chains crossed & hooked
☐ Breakaway cable attached
☐ Electrical connected & tested
☐ Jack fully raised
☐ Confirm trailer brake controller is set low enough to avoid locking up trailer tires

DROP OFF INSTRUCTIONS
⬅
Park trailer on the LEFT SIDE of the main driveway
❗ No need to return it to the original pickup slot
✅ Lower the drop leg FIRST (if equipped) before cranking the jack down
✅ Return any loaner hitch or electrical adapter to the small white horse trailer
✅ Reinstall both hitch locks
✅ Place the keys back inside the trailer lockbox
✅ Complete the Trailer Return Form
