TRAILER RENTAL INSTRUCTION GUIDE

π© STEP 1: Complete Pickup Form
β Fill out the Pickup Form to receive the lockbox code
π© STEP 2: Access Hitch Locks (Lockbox)

Use the lockbox on the trailer to access the keys
β
Remove the two hitch locks before hooking up
β
Keep keys secure during rental
π© STEP 3: Confirm Correct Ball Size
β
Check the ball size stamped on the trailer coupler
β
Make sure your hitch ball matches exactly (2", 2β5/16", etc.)
β
Ball must be tight and securely mounted
β Wrong ball size can cause the trailer to disconnect.
π© STEP 4: Verify Hitch Weight Rating
β
Confirm your hitch is rated for this trailer’s empty weight
PLUS
your load.
β
Hitch rating must meet or exceed trailer weight rating
β
Check both receiver and ball mount ratings
β Underrated hitches are unsafe and illegal.
π© STEP 5: Properly Latch & Lock the Coupler
β Unplug charging power cord from trailer (if equipped)
β
Lower coupler fully onto ball
β
Close latch completely
β
Insert safety pin or lock through latch
π© STEP 6: Attach Safety Chains (CROSS THEM)

Cross chains under the trailer tongue
β
Hook securely to vehicle's hitch receiver
β
Leave enough slack for turning (but not dragging)
π© STEP 7: Attach Breakaway Brake Cable (If Equipped)
β DO NOT attach to safety chains
β Attach to vehicle's hitch receiver
π© STEP 8: Connect Electrical Plug

Plug fully inserted
β
Test: brake lights, turn signals, running lights
β
Confirm trailer brakes activate (if equipped)
π© STEP 9: Secure the Tongue Jack
β
Crank jack to FULL up position
β
If equipped with a drop foot, fully retract the drop leg before driving
β
Some jacks rotate — ensure jack is locked in the horizontal travel position
β
Confirm jack will not contact the ground when towing
π§ NEED A LOANER?
If you need:
• A loaner hitch
• An electrical adapter
• Extra Ratchet Straps
• Tire Lasso Straps for vehicles
π They are located on the table under the open covered area of the building.

π TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER WARNING
If your truck has a trailer brake controller:

Set gain LOW before driving
β
Gradually increase as needed
β
Avoid locking up trailer tires
β If trailer brakes lock up and cause flat spots on tires, you will be charged $100 per damaged tire.

FINAL DEPARTURE CHECKLIST
β Correct ball size
β Hitch rated properly
β Coupler latched & locked
β Safety chains crossed & hooked
β Breakaway cable attached
β Electrical connected & tested
β Jack fully raised
β Confirm trailer brake controller is set low enough to avoid locking up trailer tires

DROP OFF INSTRUCTIONS

Park trailer on the LEFT SIDE of the main driveway
β No need to return it to the original pickup slot
β
Lower the drop leg FIRST (if equipped) before cranking the jack down
β
Return any loaner hitch or electrical adapter to the small white horse trailer
β
Reinstall both hitch locks
β
Place the keys back inside the trailer lockbox
β
Complete the Trailer Return Form
